Send your 500 word or less essay on The Most Influential Woman in My Life or The Most Significant Thing That Happened to Women This Year in by January 1, 2017.
An Awards Ceremony for the Words of Women Essay of the Year 9is held each year at the Dallas celebration of International Women's Day (International Women's Day), archived at Texas Women's University in the Women's Collection, and posted on the Words of Women website.

Annual Essay Cycle
We accept submissions from women and girsl around the world beginning August 26 (Women's Equality Day) every year. The deadline to submit essays is January 1. Essays are read and judged in February, winners announced during March, Women's Herstory Month, and the Essay of the Year is awarded and honored on March 8, International Women's Day.

Typed Double Spaced, One Sided
Include your name, address, phone number, email address, and age category on each page of your essay.
Categories: Youth, Maiden, Mother, or Wisewoman. These categories are based on the three cycles of a Woman's Life (Mother, Maiden, and Crone plus a special youth catefory. They are primarily based on expereince rather than chronology but are typically: Youth 7-16, Maiden 17-30, Mother 31-55, Crone or WiseWoman 56 and more.

Each Essayist receives a Certificate. We will notify you when your essay has been received and keep you updated on essay readings and selections. Winning essays are announced at the beginniong of March and Awards presented on March 8.
